Brian Scott Moving Forward Following Disappointing Darlington

"The Lady in Black" was not kind to Brian Scott and the No. 44 Safeway/Shore Lodge team on Sunday night in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, but the team is ready to put that in the rearview mirror. Scott heads to one of his favorite tracks this weekend, Richmond International Raceway, for another Saturday night showdown. Scott had a decent run in the first race of the season at Richmond earlier this year, until a blown tire sent him spinning into the inside wall and caused significant damage to his Ford Fusion before finishing the race in the 35th position.

While the spring race may not have gone as planned for the No. 44 Safeway, Shore Lodge team, Scott has found success at Richmond in his XFINITY Series career. Through 13 starts in the XFINITY Series, Scott has two poles (Fall 2013 and Spring 2014), four Top-Five finishes, five Top-10 finishes and seven Top-15 finishes. Also in the XFINITY Series, Scott led 239 of 250 laps in the Fall 2013 race, in which he started first and finished second.
At Richmond International Raceway, Scott will be running an Albertsons Companies paint scheme. Under the Albertsons Companies umbrella, Safeway will be featured on the hood of the No. 44 Ford Fusion. Safeway is a grocery chain and a banner store of Albertsons Companies based in the Western and Central US, with new stores opening across the East Coast in Virginia.

Albertsons Companies banner stores, including Safeway, is teaming up with Smithfield Foods to offer race fans a chance to drive like a "king" and win a replica of Richard Petty's 1967 Belvedere. Now through September 27, fans can enter for the Winning 43 experience by visiting any Safeway store, purchasing three or more Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan's Famous or Margherita branded products, and texting a photo of their receipt to 82257 along with a keyword found at their local store to win the Belvedere.

Fans will be able to see Scott at the Ford Display on Saturday, prior to the race that evening.

When: Saturday, September 10 from 4:25-4:40 p.m.
Where: Ford Display, Richmond International Raceway Fan Zone
"This season has certainly been tough and last weekend did not help our case, but all we can do is to continue moving forward. I believe in my team and my guys, and I know our time is coming. I love racing at Richmond. There's a combination of short-track beating and banging but also speed coming through the corners that makes it a really fun track to race on. All we can do at this point in the season is continue pushing forward and trying to get the best finishing positions that we can, and that's the goal this weekend."
