Biffle collected in accident; finishes 14th in Sprint Unlimited

The 2015 season kicked off Saturday night under the lights at Daytona International Speedway with a 75-lap non-points Sprint Unlimited shootout.  A fan paired with crew chief Matt Puccia drew a starting position of seventh for Biffle.  Biffle survived the first three cautions in the short race but was clipped in the fourth caution and sent into the inside wall.  The damage was too severe to continue leaving Biffle with a 14th-place finish in his No. 16 Ortho Ford.

The starting lineup for the Sprint Unlimited fell in the hands of the crew chiefs and a NASCAR fan paired up with each crew chief.  Matt Puccia and his fan drew a seventh-place starting position for Biffle in his No. 16 Ortho Ford.

Biffle dropped back slightly in the opening run, but in true restrictor plate racing fashion, one minute you are in the back and the next you are in the front.  The first caution came 21 laps into the race for contact behind him on the track.  The No. 16 Ortho Ford was a little loose towards the end of the opening run so Biffle pitted for adjustments.

Biffle survived the next caution unscathed and then a little right front fender damage on the third caution.  The damage from the third caution was minor and the team made the necessary repairs under caution, but the fourth caution ended the day for the No. 16 team.

In a chain reaction Biffle was clipped from the side and sent spinning down to the infield apron and head on into the inside wall.  Despite the hard hit Biffle was uninjured but the same could not be said about the No. 16 Ortho Ford.  The car was towed back to the garage and Biffle was scored in 14th when the checkered flag waved.
