Edwards Finishes 23rd at Michigan International Speedway

Carl Edwards headed to Michigan, the site of his first Sprint Cup Series start, looking for his third win at the two-mile track. After qualifying in the 22nd-position, Edwards battled with a loose No.99 Fastenal Ford Fusion for much of the day but he held on, not allowing the balance issues to defeat him, and remained consistently within the top-25, finishing in 23rdwhen the checkered flag waved.

“That was a big struggle,” said Edwards. “It was pretty tough, but we worked hard and didn’t quit. Fortunately, we have a win to get us in the Chase, but we’ve just got to get better as a group. That’s the way it is.”

Edwards began the Quicken Loans 400 in the 22nd-spot after advancing to the second round of three during knockout qualifying. With track position being key at Michigan International Speedway, the No.99 team knew that they would have their work cut out for them.

Edwards battled a loose Fastenal Ford for a majority of 200-lap race. With multiple pit-stops throughout the race, the crew made adjustments each stop to tighten up the machine. The Columbia, Missouri native battled back despite being one lap down to take the checkered flag in the 23rd position.
