Dylan Lupton Gains Valuable Experience Despite Disappointing Finish in Michigan

For the third consecutive week, Dylan Lupton ventured to a race track that he had never seen before.  While the Wilton, California native gained valuable experience in his first visit to Michigan International Speedway, he was none too happy as he brought home his No. 24 Nut Up Toyota to a disappointing 24th place finish in the running of the Irish Hills 250.

“Today was a frustrating finish to the race that doesn’t paint the whole picture,” said Lupton.  “We fought through some adversity all day but the guys on this JGL Racing team never gave up.  On that last restart I just got wrecking loose for some reason and for the second week in a row freight trained coming to the white flag.  I hate it for everyone on this JGL Racing team and the Nut Up folks.  The good news is we get to come back next week in Iowa –  a track that I have raced on a few times already in my career.”

Dylan would start the 250-mile event from the 30th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier Saturday morning.  Lupton would adapt to the new track and slowly move forward in the field.  The No. 24 Nut Up Toyota would be in the 25th position at the end of the first stage.

The second stage would begin with the No. 24 Nut Up Toyota receiving rear end damage after being hit from behind as everyone tried to avoid an accident on the back stretch.  While the damage was repaired by the JGL Racing crew, Dylan would report he was loose when he was racing inside of another car.  The second stage would end under caution with Lupton breaking into the top-20.

The second half of the 125-lap event would see the No. 24 Nut Up Toyota remain around the top-20 as Dylan continued with the learning process.  Despite dealing with a tight condition in the center of the corner and through exit, Lupton would sit inside the top-20 leading into a green-white-checkered finish.  A wild restart and two lap shootout would result in the loss of valuable spots to the field and the disappointing 24th place finish.

“For the second week in a row I have had a disappointing finish to a race,” added Dylan. “We definitely had speed in the car and it is just a matter of time that we get the finishes we deserve.”

Lupton and his JGL Racing team will next head to Iowa Speedway for the running of the American Ethanol E15 250.  The 14th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday June 24th and can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports1 at 8:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
