Cale Conley Limps Home 32nd in NASCAR Return at Charlotte

It has been almost two years since the last time Cale Conley strapped into a NASCAR ride and he was more than excited to make his return at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the West Virginia native as he limped his No. 24 Merchant Services Ltd Toyota home to a disappointing 32nd place finish in the running of the Hisense 300.

“It was a really rough day for me and the No. 24 Merchant Services Ltd. Toyota,” said Conley.  “Our car was fairly decent in practice on Thursday and I had high hopes entering the race today.  But she was a handful today and we just did all we could to safely get to the checkered flag.”

Cale’s race day would start off rough right from the beginning as the No. 24 Toyota would spin coming off turn four during the first round of qualifying.  The result would have Conley starting the 300-mile event from the 32nd position.

The early stages of the race would find Cale dealing with traffic and dirty air before disaster struck again on lap 16 resulting in another spin off turn four for the No. 24 Merchant Services Ltd Toyota.  Cale would ultimately go down a lap but would hang tough and earn the Lucky Dog award towards the end of the first stage to return to the lead lap and sit in the 31st position.

The second stage would continue to see Cale struggle with the handling of his No. 24 Toyota as he reported that he felt like his car was on top of the track.  The second half of the race would simply see Conley take care of his car and focus on bringing it home safely to the checkered flag.  As he avoided some late race incidents, Cale would safely come home with the disappointing 32nd place finish.

“I want to thank everyone at JGL Racing for their hard work and this opportunity,” added Cale.  “Obviously, this was a very disappointing result as I was hoping for a better run for my first race back.  However, being back in a race car is a dream come true.”

The JGL Racing team will next head to Dover International Speedway for the running of the OneMain Financial 200 with Dylan Lupton returning to the No. 24 Nut Up Toyota.   The 11th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday June 3rd and can be seen LIVE on Fox Sports1 at 1:00 pm ET.   It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
