An accident in the race’s closing laps resulted in Garrett Smithley finishing 34th in Saturday’s Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Smithley collided with the car of Darrell Wallace Jr., bringing out the seventh caution flag of the afternoon on lap 262 of 300.
“It was a tough way to end the day,” Smithley said. “You don’t want to leave this track with a crumpled race car. We’ll be back at Richmond next week.”
