“We lost track position after the second stage and weren’t able to make it up. Then we got collected in a wreck near the end. There just wasn’t enough laps for us to get where we needed to be. I think there was a difference between stickers and scuffs for our car. We made an adjustment during the first run of the race and probably didn’t have to. Our No. 2 Rheem Chevy was pretty good. The rain washed rubber off the track, so we weren’t sure what the track was going to be like when we went back green. The top groove did come in before the rain, so it was good to be able to jump up there and be able to gain some spots. We lost track position after the second stage and then got in a couple of wrecks and struggled to make up the difference. It’s a pretty fun track, really. I think the way we’ve got it with the grip on the bottom and being able to cut to the top makes it interesting. I’m pretty excited to get back tomorrow for the Cup Series race.”

Ty Dillon Battles in the Nexium 24HR Chevrolet at the Last Great Colosseum for a Sixth-Place Finish

“We had a strong No. 3 Nexium 24HR Chevrolet coming into the day, and we showed that in running up with the leaders for the majority of the race. During that last run before the rain came, I got way too loose and fell back. Crew Chief Matt Swiderski made the changes that we needed to get back up there once we were back to racing for the final segment. The sun coming out really helped me too. I was a little tight, but I actually liked my balance that way and didn’t need them to free me up. I had a shot there at the end, but being on the bottom for that last restart really killed me. I was so much better on the top all afternoon. But, those are the breaks sometimes, and you just have to make do with what you have. I’m really proud of how hard my team worked and am looking forward to getting to Richmond with them next week.”

Daniel Hemric Wins Dash 4 Cash $100K and Stage 2 in Fifth-Place Effort at Bristol Motor Speedway

 “This whole day is just a testament to everyone on the No. 21 Blue Gate Bank Chevrolet team and everyone at Richard Childress Racing. I was hoping we could get up there and earn the overall victory, but to take home the $100,000 Dash 4 Cash prize and win Stage 2 of the race is big for this group. Our Blue Gate Bank Chevrolet fired off free to start the race, and there was such a fast pace we fell a lap down right before the end of the Stage 1. We were able to get the free pass, but had to drive our way back toward the front of the field. The way the rain delays worked, we were able to play a strategy game and crew chief Danny Stockman made the call to stay out at the end of Stage 2, which led to the win there and got us a playoff point. We’re continuing to improve as a group and hopefully today was a sign of things to come. Thanks to all of our partners for the support and to XFINITY for putting on this Dash 4 Cash program. We’ll look to go win it again next week in Richmond.”

Late Race Incident Robs Brandon Jones of Solid Finish at Bristol Motor Speedway

“We just can’t seem to catch any luck this season. My team worked so hard to get the No. 33 M-D Building Products / Menards Chevrolet Camaro handling to where I needed it, and we had it dialed in there toward the middle of the race. I was able to run up front and contend for the lead for a lot of the race. It’s unfortunate that after waiting out that rain delay our shot at a top-10 was taken away after receiving contact and being pinned against the wall on a restart. We had a really strong race again but just couldn’t get the finish.”

Mid Race Incident Spoils Strong Run for Brendan Gaughan at Bristol Motor Speedway

“The No. 62 South Point Chevrolet was good, we were running for the Dash 4 Cash after qualifying in stage two. Everything was looking good then it just turned into one of those racing things. I couldn’t go any higher and Bubba (Wallace) just washed up off the corner. I like Bubba, we don’t have any problems, he just made a mistake. I’m just bummed we didn’t get the chance to run for the 100 grand. It was a good shot at a great finish for the team. It has been a rough start to the season for us. We’ve got a lot of racing left, and we will be fine. We will make the playoffs, and run for a championship. We had another good car again and nothing to show for it. At least we earned eight points with the stage finish. We will regroup and move onto Richmond International Raceway, my favorite track.”
