JGL Racing Welcomes Back Herring and LaJoie to “Young Guns” Program

JGL Racing is proud to announce the return of Drew Herring and Corey LaJoie to their “Young Guns” program for the 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series season.  LaJoie will make his debut behind the wheel of the No. 24 Toyota in the second race of the season at Atlanta Motor Speedway.  The following week will find Herring fill the seat as the XFINITY Series moves to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first of three west coast races.
“We debuted the Young Guns program last season and Drew and Corey were big parts of our success with the program”, added JGL Racing team owner James Whitener.  “All of us are excited to welcome back both of these talented young drivers and we look to build on the success from last year.  We have done a tremendous amount of work to grow the program and the addition of a fleet of Joe Gibbs Racing cars and utilizing the horsepower from the JGR engines will help these talented young drivers shine.”
In addition to the Las Vegas event, Herring will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 24 Young Guns Toyota the following week at Phoenix International Raceway.  Drew made four starts last season for the Young Guns program garnering three top-20 finishes with a best finish of 12th at Iowa Speedway.
“I am very thankful for the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of the JGL Racing Toyota’s,” stated Herring.  “I enjoyed driving their cars last year and feel with the additions made in the off season that we will be even more competitive.  It is going to be interesting to see how everything plays out with the new racing format and the changes to the XFINITY Series cars.  I look forward to the challenge and feel these changes will put even more emphasis on the driver and his ability to get everything out of the car.”
LaJoie will return to the seat of the No. 24 Toyota for the final of the three west coast races at Auto Club Speedway.  Corey made 10 starts for JGL Racing last season earning two top-10 finishes and a career best finish of sixth at Dover International Speedway in October.
“I am ready to get back to work with the guys at JGL Racing,” said LaJoie.  “They have worked very hard over the winter and I am confident they are going to bring some awesome cars to the track.  Drew and I both are still trying to gain traction towards a full-time ride and this is a great platform for us to show our abilities.  I hope to put together a couple more top-10 finishes  like we did last year.”
The No. 24 Toyota will kick off the season with Scott Lagasse Jr. handling the driving duties for the growing organization. The 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series season will kick off at Daytona International Speedway on February 25th with the running of the PowerShares QQQ 300.
