RCR NXS Post Race Report – Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 200

Strong, Top-Five Run Derailed at Dover International Speedway for the No. 2 Richmond/Menards Team

“I have to thank my guys for their hard work this weekend in Dover. We had to roll out the backup car after an issue during practice on Friday, and they worked nonstop to get the car ready for final practice. For a backup car, we had a lot of speed during qualifying, and I knew we’d have a shot at a top-five finish. The car was loose, but manageable during the first half of the race and the guys made a track bar adjustment that set us up well for the remaining laps. Not long after pit stops, I felt something break in the right front and had to come down pit road so the guys could determine what happened. Once we got back on track, I think we were nine laps down without many laps left, so we just survived to the end. I know Danny (Stockman, crew chief) and the guys will go back and try to figure out what happened. I’m looking forward to my next race with this Richmond/Menards team in Pocono.”

Ty Dillon Wins Heat No. 2 and Overcomes Early Feature Race Trouble En Route to Top-Five Finish

“Today was disappointing. Disappointing in the sense that I thought we had a car good enough to win the race. We’ll take the top-five finish, but I felt as if we could have gotten a lot more. We had a few issues to start and because it’s such a short race, there really isn’t any room for error. This Rheem Camaro team will take a fifth-place finish, but we let one get away here today. We could have had an opportunity to lock ourselves into The Chase. Our team is ready to win a race.”

Early Contact Sets Back Brandon Jones at Dover International Speedway

“We actually got the No. 33 Chevrolet Military Discount Camaro pretty tuned up after we got into the wall with the No. 16 of Ryan Reed early on in the race. Just a rough weekend, really. You’ll have those for sure, though.  I think we’ve got a pretty good notebook to come back here for the next Dover race where we’re in the (NASCAR) XFINITY Series Chase and it really matters. I’m looking forward to getting back here in October. We’ll rebound here in a couple of weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”

Gaughan Wheels the South Point Chevrolet to a Top-15 Finish at Dover International Speedway

“We had a top-10 car all day long. The South Point Chevrolet was one of the best cars on track during the long run. On restarts, we were tight but on that second set of tires, we turned too loose. I was working through lap traffic when it just got out from under me, it was really free. My guys did a good job on pit road. As a team, I think we know what we need to work on to improve when we come back during The Chase. That’s the main thing. We’ll move on from here and get better.”
