TriStar Motorsports Scores Best Finish of the Season with JJ Yeley in the No. 44 Zachry Camry

In the absence of David Starr this weekend, due to illness, JJ Yeley transferred over to fill the seat of the No. 44 Zachry Camry at Richmond International Raceway. The venue served as the second event in a four part series of the Dash 4 Cash Heat Races.

With rain cancelling practice sessions on Friday, NASCAR made the decision to forgo qualifying and instead utilize the scheduled time for a short practice session on Saturday morning. By eliminating qualifying, the starting order for the ToyotaCare 250 was set per the rule book, placing the No. 44 Zachry Camry in Heat 1 starting 12th. Yeley completed the 35 lap heat race with a 10th place finish, slotting him to roll off the grid 19th to start the Main Event. Immediately upon the start of the Main Event, Yeley set a steady pace and began advancing through the field. Despite a loose handling condition, Yeley managed to keep clicking off positions. By the halfway mark, Yeley had the Zachry Camry in the 12th position and was turning the fastest lap times of the field. As the race neared end, Crew Chief Frank Kerr kept the Zachry Camry out on track to take the wave around and gain track position under caution. With the restart, Yeley rallied and brought home a 12th place finish at Richmond International Raceway in the No. 44 Zachry Camry.

JJ Yeley: “Today was one of those rare, really fun days at the racetrack. The Zachry Toyota unloaded well. Frankie and the guys did a great job of tuning the car. It was the perfect time to have a really good set up with the race running for so long without any cautions. I was just a little disappointed with the finish because I definitely felt like we had a Top-10 car. All in all a great day for the TriStar Motorsports Zachry Toyota. I would like to thank TriStar Motorsports and Zachry for allowing me the opportunity to fill in for David Starr.”
