Bon Bon Boom Pops Sponsors Cassill

When the checkered flag waves at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Saturday, one driver will be especially hoping the experience has been a sweet treat worthy of his car for the day.

Landon Cassill, the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, will be behind the wheel of the Bon Bon Boom Bubble Gum Pops No. 01 Chevrolet. The Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 will be the first-ever North American sports partnership for the globally renowned confectionary brand.

Cassill’s No. 01 car is especially fitting, as Bon Bon Boom is already the top-selling brand of bubble gum pop in more than 15 countries around the world. The company was also drawn to supporting Cassill at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 because of the company’s ongoing global commitment to corporate social responsibility. The race benefits the regional medical center dedicated to offering life-saving treatment to children, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.

The race also comes at a key time for Cassill and JD Motorsports, as the fan favorite is on the cusp of the top 10 drivers for the 2014 Nationwide Series season. Cassill drives for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller.

“The Bon Bon Boom car is certain to get people’s attention,” said Cassill in anticipation of the race. “Of course, I’m hoping it’s all anyone’s talking about after the race because it’s sitting in the Winner’s Circle!”

Colombina USA, owners and manufacturers of the Bon Bon Boom brand of bubble gum lollipops, chose to sponsor the car to help increase domestic awareness of its intensely-flavored offerings, including flavor categories such as Berry Explosion and Sour Assortment. The sponsorship comes through an arrangement with Menards home improvement stores, a chain of more than 250 locations across the Midwest where Bon Bon Boom pops are currently available.

“The Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 is a great opportunity for us to invite fans audiences here to give Bon Bon Boom a try, and experience the flavors the world has come to love,” said Carlos Gil, general manager for Colombina USA. “NASCAR runs on excitement and intensity, key values that Bon Bon Boom brings excitement to children of all ages.”

Fans attending Saturday’s road race are certain to notice the bright red No. 01 car with the Bon Bon Boom Bubble Gum Pops logo on the hood and trunk, as well as images of the lollipops on either side. Bon Bon Boom representatives will also be on hand at the event offering free samples and other related merchandise.

Bon Bon Boom lollipops are available at a wide variety of retailers across the world. Colombina USA, the brand’s parent company was founded in 2007, while various Colombina brands have been available nationally for more than 50 years.
