TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: Iowa Speedway

Mike Bliss Finishes 16th “The American Heartland”: After qualifying 21st for the US Cellular 250, Mike Bliss was ready to buckle into the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Camry and run the 250-mile race. 31 laps into the race, Bliss had advanced three positions and was scored in the 18th position. When the first caution flag was shown, Bliss was looking for adjustments, so the No. 19 crew put four fresh tires on, added Sunoco Racing fuel, a track bar adjustment and an air pressure adjustment. Bliss was running in the 19th position on lap 91 and continued to make his way through the field. A caution flag was shown for debris, so when the team was discussing their pit strategy Bliss reported that he needed a wedge adjustment. With 25 laps to go, Bliss was scored in the 17th position and would advance one position to finish 16th.

 

Eric McClure Finished 23rd in the “Corn State”: Eric McClure qualified 29th on Saturday afternoon and was ready to get behind the wheel for the US Cellular 250. At the start of the race, McClure was having transmission issues and his No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry was stuck in fourth gear. Even with transmission issues, McClure was fast on track and moving his way up through the field. When the first caution came out, McClure came to pit road for four tires, fuel and adjustments. After the team assessed the transmission issue, McClure reported that his Camry was driving extremely well. At lap 58, McClure was scored in the 30th position and by lap 91 he was scored in the 28th position. Running 24th at lap 138, McClure reported that his Camry was a “tick free”. With 10 laps to go, McClure was scored in the 24th position and advanced one position to finish 23rd.

 

The “Ragin Cajun” Finished 28th at Iowa Speedway: The “Ragin Cajun” qualified 24th for his second career start at Iowa Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Martin was eager to take the green flag in his No. 44 American Custom Yachts Camry, but by lap 15 he came on the radio and reported that his Camry was free on entry and was scored in the 30th position. When the first caution flag was shown, Martin came to pit road for Sunoco Racing fuel and a track bar adjustment. By lap 43, Martin was shown in the 29th position and with 100 laps to go, Martin came to pit road after reporting that he had a vibration coming from his tires. He made an unscheduled pit stop for four tires and with 25 laps to go, Martin came back to pit road due to a tire going down. With 14 laps to go, Martin was scored in the 28th position and would take the checkered flag in the 28th position.
