TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: New Hampshire

TriStar Motorsports is heading back to North Carolina after a good weekend in the “Granite State” at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Post-Race notes below:

 

Matt Frahm and the No. 44 Gilchrist Metal Fabrication Camry Finished 25th

 

In his first race with TriStar Motorsports, New Hampshire native Matt Frahm started Saturday morning off with qualifying. After qualifying 36th, Frahm knew he had positions to make up, but was ready to go racing. Early into the race, the driver was quiet on the radio and gaining positions each lap. By lap 7, Frahm had gained seven spots to the 29th position. During the first two cautions early into the Sta-Green 200, the No. 44 GMF Crew opted to stay out. When it came time for the teams green flag pit stop on lap 73, the team put on four fresh tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment. Frahm was caught up in an on track accident that left his right rear quarter panel damaged. The team quickly went to work on pit road to repair the damage and was scored in the 24th position. With 47 laps to go, Frahm was scored in the 26th position and would advance one position to finish the 200-mile race 25th.

 

Eric McClure and the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry Finished 26th

 

Eric McClure and the No. 44 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry qualified 25th for the Sta-Green 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. McClure felt good about his car after both practice sessions and qualifying, and knew that he would run a good race. When the second caution came out at lap 12, McClure brought his Camry to pit road for fuel and adjustments. At the halfway point, McClure and the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry were scored in the 27th position. With less than 60 laps to go, McClure came on the radio reporting a vibration, which he believed was tire rub. The spotter quickly told him that his tires looked good and McClure fought through the vibration. With 47 laps to go, McClure was scored in the 27th position and would advance one position to finish the race 26th.

 

Mike Bliss and the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Camry Finished 32nd

 

Mike Bliss was looking for redemption this weekend in New Hampshire after bad luck followed them from Kentucky to Daytona, but unfortunately the bad luck continued this weekend. After qualifying 21st for the 200-mile race, Bliss was in a good position at the start of the race. By lap 7, Bliss had gained three positions on track and was scored 18th. Around lap 30, Bliss came on the radio and reported that the No. 19 Camry was loose. At lap 61, the No. 19 Camry was scored in 22nd and just before green flag pit stops the driver came on the radio and reported his Camry didn’t have front grip. When an on track accident collected the No. 19 Camry, the damage caused multiple issues and the team went to the garage. Unfortunately, the damage was not easily repairable and the team retired from the race and finished 32nd.
