TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: Daytona

TriStar Motorsports did not get the results that they expected during the Subway Firecracker 250. Earlier in the afternoon during qualifying, the No. 19, No. 14 and the No. 91 Camrys were involved in a wreck on the backstretch that sent them to the garage. When segment one of qualifying was cancelled, the No. 10 and No. 91 Camrys did not qualify for the race. Below are the post race results:

 

Eric McClure and the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry finished 22nd

 

Eric McClure’s Friday did not start out the way he planned. After getting caught up in a wreck during qualifying, McClure drove his No. 14 Camry to the garage to assess the damage. The No. 14 team had to make front-end repairs after assessing the damage. McClure was still determined and ready to run at Daytona International Speedway. Early into the race, McClure stayed toward the back of the field in order to stay out of harms way. During the first round of green flag pit stops, the No. 14 Camry came to pit road for two tires and fuel, when he was running in the 30th position. After taking the wave around under the first caution, McClure was scored in the 29th position. With 21 laps to go, McClure was running 28th and would advance six positions to finish the race 22nd.

 

David Starr and the No. 44 Chasco Constructors Camry finished 25th

 

David Starr and the No. 44 Camry were leading the draft during qualifying, when his teammates wrecked behind him. Starr was eager to get the 250-mile race started and when he took the green flag, the No. 44 Chasco Camry was on the way to the front of the field. By lap 18, Starr was running 20th and was quiet on the radio. When green flag pit stops rolled around, Starr came to pit road for two tires and fuel. At lap 45, Starr was running 17th. When the caution came out late in the race, which caused the Nationwide Series race to finish under a G-W-C, Starr was scored in the 6th position. Unfortunately, a gear broke on the No. 44 Chasco Constructors Camry when Starr was coming to the white flag and Starr finished the Subway Firecracker 250 in the 25th position.

 

Mike Bliss and the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Camry finished 38th

 

Mike Bliss and the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Camry were looking for redemption in Daytona, but after wrecking during qualifying due to rain on the backstretch, the No. 19 team had to get in a back-up car. By lap 7, Bliss had worked his way from the rear of the field to the 29th position. Bliss reported early on that his Camry was tight in traffic and loose when he was running by himself. During the first round of green flag pit stops, Bliss brought the No. 19 Camry to pit road for a track bar adjustment, two tires and fuel. When the green flag returned with 43 laps to go, the No. 19 Camry went to the garage due to a mechanical issue. Bliss finished the Subway Firecracker 250 38th.
