Kyle Busch No. 54 Monster Energy NNS Daytona Preview

Remembering earlier to February and the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway event, the No. 54 Monster Energy team started and finished in fourth place, not the result they hoped for after Kyle Busch sparked momentum for the year by capturing the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win the day before. Five months later the veteran team is not only eager to finish what they started at the beginning of 2014, on the 2.5-mile superspeedway, but they’ve proven they can take it all the way, having already earned four victories, four poles and 14 top-five finishes through 15 races this year.

At the historic Florida facility, Busch has earned three victories over his career, taking checkered flags in all three of NASCAR’s top touring series. Over 46 events raced in those series at Daytona, Busch has earned 17 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes with one pole-starting position accomplished in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this time last year. Busch has a collective 700 laps led, 316 of those in the Nationwide Series alone. As 2014 series lap leader to date, Busch looks to add more to his resume this Friday night.

Joe Gibbs Racing has competed in 61 races in the Nationwide Series at Daytona and posted four wins, 19 top-five finishes, 26 top-10 finishes, five poles and 495 laps led. After securing victories in both 2008 events, 2011 and 2013 with drivers Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth, the JGR contingency looks forward to another shot at visiting the superspeedway’s famous victory lane – this time, hopefully, with the series’ winningest driver, their Monster Energy athlete.
