The state of Kentucky’s “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” campaign against driving under the influence will sponsor Landon Cassill’s No. 01 Chevrolet in Friday’s John R. Elliott Hero Campaign 300 Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway.
JD Motorsports team owner Johnny Davis made the announcement Thursday at the team’s Gaffney shop.
“This will be an important weekend for us,” said Cassill, who is racing in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series this season. “Everybody knows the importance of highway safety, and campaigns like this serve a great purpose in re-emphasizing that. We’ll be putting a lot of miles at some high speeds on our Chevrolet this weekend, but we’re encouraging the fans out there to be super-safe on the roadways.”
Thousands of people are killed annually in highway crashes involving a driver or motorcycle rider with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher – the legal threshold for drunken driving. The “Drive Sober” campaign seeks to “pull over” those drivers and make the roadways safer.
