Earnhardt finishes 25th at Road America

A last-lap crash left Jeffrey Earnhardt with a 25th-place finish in Saturday’s Gardner Denver 200 Nationwide Series race at Road America.

Earnhardt was pushing toward a top-15 run on the difficult and lengthy road course when he and Ryan Sieg made contact on the race’s final lap, disabling both of their cars.

“We should have had a better finish,” said Earnhardt, who drove the Lake Forest Hearing Chevrolet. “Got tangled up there at the end and didn’t bring it home. But we learned a lot on what was a tough day.”

The race was run in the rain and under wet-track conditions, forcing teams to use rain tires.

“I want to thank Lake Forest Hearing for joining with us this weekend,” said team owner Johnny Davis. “It’s good to see new folks getting involved in the sport at a team sponsorship level, and it helped to make a good weekend for us.”

Earnhardt started 36th but used solid moves on the four-mile course to advance to 18th after only 10 laps.
