Jeffrey Earnhardt completed a tough weekend at Dover International Speedway with a 30th-place finish in Saturday’s Buckle Up 200 Nationwide Series race.
Earnhardt had a strong car in Friday practice, but, in the final moments on track, he slipped in fluid dropped by another car and slammed into the outside wall, damaging the Chevrolet beyond repair. He was forced to a backup car.
“We got a bad deal,” Earnhardt said. “Our primary car was really hooked up pretty well for a very fast track, but it was banged up too badly to fix. The backup car was OK, but it wasn’t the same.”
Earnhardt ran in the 30s all day in the Fast Wax/Austin Hatcher Foundation Chevrolet.
Earnhardt is 16th in Nationwide driver points entering the June 14 race at Michigan International Speedway.
