TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: Charlotte Motor Speedway

This weekend the NASCAR Nationwide Series race was in our very own backyard at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The History 300race was 200-laps/300-miles and included three cautions and nine lead changes. Below are the results for the TriStar Motorsports Camrys:

 

Mike Bliss Finishes 20th at Charlotte Motor Speedway

 

Mike Bliss and the No. 19 SupportMilitary.org Toyota Camry qualified 18th for Saturdays race. Bliss battled his way through the field throughout the 300-mile race. With 125 laps to go, Bliss was running 16th and on lap 87 when the caution flag was shown, the lucky recipient of the “Lucky Dog” award was the No. 19 SupportMilitary.org Camry. With 47 laps to go, Bliss was scored in 13th, but he came on the radio saying that he has no front grip going into the corners. After pitting for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment late into the race, Bliss was running 21st with 10 laps to go. Bliss and the No. 19 SupportMilitary.org Camry finished the History 300 in the 20th position.

 

David Starr Finishes 24th at Charlotte Motor Speedway

 

David Starr and the No. 44 Central Texas Lath & Plaster Toyota Camry qualified 22nd for the History 300 on Saturday morning at Charlotte Motor Speedway. By lap eight, Starr had advanced two positions and was continually gaining on the cars ahead of him. With 24 laps complete, the first caution flag waved and Starr brought his Camry to pit road for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment. After 125 laps complete, Starr was running 21st. Late into the race, Starr came to pit road for Green Flag pit stops, but quickly returned to pit road due to a vibration that was caused by a loose lug nut. With 10 to go, Starr was running 25th and would advance one position when he crossed the finish line to finish the race 24th.

 

Eric McClure Finishes 29th at Charlotte Motor Speedway

 

Eric McClure and the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry qualified 34th for Saturday’s History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Early in the race McClure battled loose-handling conditions.  He brought the Hefty® Ultimate™ Camry to pit road for four tires with an air-pressure adjustment, fuel, and a track-bar adjustment during the lap 23 caution.  As the race continued, the car’s handling improved on entry but it became way too tight in the center and on exit of the turns.  During the final 40 laps, the car once again showed slight improvement in its drivability, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the issues from earlier in the race. McClure finished the History 300 29th.
