Jeremy Clements renews commitment to Racing for a Cause as National Spokesperson

When Jeremy Clements accepted an invitation to an appearance at a go-karting fundraiser in 2010, he didn’t anticipate forming a bond with a young boy on a huge mission.  That bond led to his involvement with Racing for a Cause.  Today, Clements renewed his commitment as National Spokesperson for the program.

Racing for a Cause was founded in 2009 by then 7 year old Ricky Springer.  Springer was born with an Eosinophilic Disease called Eosinophilic Colitis, which occurs when eosinophils, white blood cells, attack his colon.  Due to the lack of knowledge about these diseases in the medical community, Springer suffered for the first 21 months of his life, while 18 physicians were unable to diagnose his illness.  Springer founded Racing for a Cause to create awareness of eosinophilic diseases, using his own go-kart racing as a platform to educate others.   The program has grown over the last 5 years to have educated over 7.9 Million people about eosinophilic diseases and include a “Team” of racers from around the world who help create awareness.

“It’s an honor to have Jeremy (Clements) as our National Spokesperson,” shared Springer.  “He’s a great guy and has been very supportive of my program since we met.  He helps us with whatever we need, hosts fundraisers and even has promoted Racing for a Cause by running our logo on the hood of his No. 51 Chevy in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.”

Clements is currently running his 3rd full time season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, driving the No. 51 Chevrolet for his family owned team, Jeremy Clements Racing.  “I am honored to serve as National Spokesperson for Racing for a Cause”, said Clements.  “Ricky has a huge passion and I am happy to be able to support him.  I’ve met so many kids over the last few years who live with eosinophilic diseases and it breaks my heart what they have to go through.”

Clements will continue as National Spokesperson, working with Springer to create worldwide awareness of eosinophilic diseases through media and special events, as well as carrying the Racing for a Cause logo on his No. 51 Chevy in the NASCAR Nationwide Series each week.
