NNS: Sam Hornish Jr. Earns Pole for Aaron’s 312

In his first time back in the NASCAR Nationwide Series since last season at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, Sam Hornish Jr. captures the pole for Saturday’s Aaron’s 312. Hornish ran a time of 51.268 seconds, 186.783 mph. This is his sixth career pole in the series and his first since the season finale last year.

Starting in the second position will be Elliott Sadler after posting a fast time of 51.270 seconds, 186.729 mph. Sadler will make his sixth start inside the top-10 of this season and will shoot for his seventh top-10 finish on Saturday afternoon. He was just 0.002 seconds behind the pole sitter’s time.

Also making his first start of the season since 2012 will be third place starter, Darrell Wallace Jr. Wallace posted a fast time of 51.283 seconds, 186.729 mph. In his last start, which came at Dover, he won the pole and drove to a 12th-place finish. If he finishes inside the top-five Saturday afternoon, he will score his fourth top-10 finish in his Nationwide Series career.

Two drivers will disqualify for the event, which was Chad Boat and Derrike Cope. There was one incidenet this afternoon during the first round of qualifying, which was Tanner Berryhill just before the tri-oval.
