Viva Motorsports Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 Post Race Report

Heading into the Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway Jamie Dick and his No.55 Viva Auto Group Chevrolet team were poised to get a good finish.  After qualifying a disappointing 37th, Jamie had confidence in his Viva Auto Group Chevrolet heading into the race, and the qualifying effort wasn’t an indication of the cars true speed.  By lap 75 Dick had already moved up ten positions running steadily in 27th.  When the leaders came down pit road during the lap 95 caution, Crew Chief Bill Henderson told the El Paso, TX native to stay out and start saving fuel.  When the third caution came out on lap 136, Dick pitted for minor chassis adjustments, four fresh tires, and fuel.  Immediately the plan was to conserve fuel and not have to pit again. That initial plan was aborted when the caution came out on lap 230, and Jamie asked for an adjustment.  Jamie was able to capitalize on that decision to pit by finishing 23rd.

“The Viva Auto Group Chevrolet had really good balance all day,” said Jamie Dick. “Bill and the whole Viva Motorsports team did an amazing job all weekend, we fought a loose in the center condition, which made it hard to let the car roll through the center. But we stayed out of trouble, and were able to get a finish we deserved at a track that is really physically and mentally tough.  It gives our team momentum heading into California next weekend.”
