Landon Cassill reached a key milestone for the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team Saturday, finishing a strong 12th in the Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway and moving into 10th place in Nationwide Series driver points.
In 12th, Cassill was the last car on the lead lap, finishing all 300 circuits of one of the tour’s most demanding races.
Cassill moved up three spots in points to put his name in the elite top 10 in points.
“It feels good to be up there at this point in the season,” Cassill said. “We’ve had a good, steady year, and today we had a good, steady race. We lost a lap but got it back and hung in there with the other guys near the front.
“It was a great day. It’s good to see Johnny’s team up there like this.”
Cassill was in 14th after lap 135 and was 13th at lap 210. He moved into 12th with 30 laps to go and stayed there the rest of the way.
Cassill is 46 points behind series point leader Regan Smith.
