Justin Allgaier NNS Preview: Dover International Speedway

Meeting the Monster…Following a “home” race in Charlotte, N.C. for Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM), the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) heads to Dover International Speedway (DIS) for the first of a 20-consecutive race stretch this season. Allgaier has eight previous starts at DIS and has led 16 laps. This will be the second concrete track the NNS has raced on this season, the first being Bristol Motor Speedway, where Allgaier started from the pole and finished in the top 10.

Charlotte Recap…Allgaier qualified 14th at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro. After receiving a late-race penalty for speeding on pit road, which resulted in Allgaier going one lap down, he brought the No. 31 BRANDT Chevy home in the seventh position. With another top-10 finish, Allgaier moved up one spot to third in the NNS Driver Point Standings.

Drive for Autism…On Thursday, May 30, Allgaier, along with his crew chief Scott Zipadelli, TSM teammate Kyle Larson, and crew chief Trent Owens will participate in the Drive for Autism Charity Golf Tournament at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del. The annual golf tournament is hosted to raise awareness and funds to serve people affected by autism and their families throughout Delaware.

Autism Speaks…This weekend at DIS, the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro will sport the Autism Speaks puzzle piece in support of Sunday’s FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism. Their longtime friend Bernie Marcus donated $25 million to help financially launch the organization. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. This Week’s Camaro…This weekend the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet team will utilize chassis TSM-320. TSM-320 has made two previous starts this season: Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Dover International Speedway:

“We are taking chassis No. 320 to Dover [International Speedway], which we have run twice before. We have a long practice session on Friday that we will use to try different setups in preparation for the race. Overall, I expect us to have a good run at Dover.”

Justin Allgaier on Dover International Speedway:

“Dover [International Speedway] is a difficult track to drive, and the driver can really make a difference. It’s a concrete track and there’s not a lot of grip, so it’s really easy to mess up a lap. They also have one of the more unique trophies in the Nationwide Series, so it would be neat to bring home Miles the Monster.”
