Justin Allgaier NNS Preview: Talladega Superspeedway

Talladega…Following a couple of Friday night races, the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) returns to its regular Saturday afternoon racing at Talladega Superspeedway. This is the second superspeedway race of the season, following the season opener at Daytona International Speedway where Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro team finished seventh.

Richmond Recap…After qualifying 11th at Richmond International Raceway, Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT Chevy Camaro team ran in the top-10 all evening. Unfortunately, a late-race accident with another competitor relegated the No. 31 car to a 31st-place finish. Allgaier remains fourth in the NNS driver point standings.

This Week’s Camaro…Chassis TSM-334 will once again be put to work in NNS competition this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. TSM-334 has a new body and front clip after a last-lap accident at Daytona International Speedway.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Talladega Superspeedway:

“Talladega [Superspeedway] is one of the easiest tracks to make the car drive well, but it’s difficult to make the car have speed. The track is very smooth and has grip since the repave, but if the sun comes out it gets really slick when the cars are in a big pack. We go there to finish the race and not get in a big wreck, which is often a difficult task at Talladega.”

Justin Allgaier on Talladega Superspeedway:

“I’m excited to get to Talladega [Superspeedway]. We had a great No. 31 BRANDT Chevy Camaro at Daytona [International Speedway] and all of the Turner Scott Motorsports cars were strong, so I expect the same for this weekend. The key is to avoid the accidents and be there at the end of the day for a shot at the win.”
