Whitt leads BK Racing teams with 21st-place finish at Talladega

Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Scorpyd Crossbows Toyota Camry team finished 21st at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon.  After minor involvement in two on-track incidents, Whitt was able to rebound for his first top-25 finish with the BK Racing organization.

Whitt rolled off 31st for the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon.  Despite calling reporting issues with the handling of his car early in the race, Whitt was able to maintain track position inside the top 25.  With minor adjustments during the opening two pit stops of the afternoon, Whitt was pleased with the handling of his car and planned to log laps until it was time to make a move to the front.

On lap 138, a 14-car accident broke out in turn four collecting the No. 26 Scorpyd Crossbows Camry.  With damage on all four corners of the car, Whitt brought his car down pit road for repairs.  With quick work from his BK Racing crew, Whitt was able to maintain his position on the lead lap and spent the next 40 laps inside the top 20.

With eight laps remaining in the event Whitt was running in the 15th position, but when a multicar accident broke out in turn one during the closing laps, Whitt was involved in the incident.  The No. 26 Scorpyd Crossbows Camry crossed the finish line in the 21st position.

“I had a lot of fun this weekend with our Scorpyd Crossbows team,” commented Whitt.  “Anything can happen at Talladega Superspeedway.  For us to be involved in two accidents and still come away with a top-25 finish is a great testament to how hard this BK Racing team works.  We had a strong strategy and made the right moves to put us in a good position throughout the afternoon.  I’m excited that we get to come back here again later in the year for another shot at it.”
