A Weekend of Fun at Talladega Superspeedway is Just a Short Drive Down the Road!

It’s time for citizens in the surrounding areas of Talladega Superspeedway to start their engines as the bugle is sounding for this weekend’s NASCAR Playoff doubleheader. Conveniently located off I-20, Talladega Superspeedway is only 40 minutes from The Magic City of Birmingham, and 20 minutes away from the Oxford/Anniston area as well as Pell City. Alabama’s 2.66-mile palace of speed offers an amazing retreat full of heart-pounding racing and exciting events just a short drive away!

Thrilling 3- and 4-wide, intense battles at 200 mph will highlight the epic weekend of NASCAR postseason action, which features the 1000Bulbs.com 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoff event, the second race (of three) in the Round of 12, on Sunday, Oct. 14. The Fr8Auctions 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday, Oct. 13, will serve as a cutoff race in the series playoffs, where the field of championship-eligible contenders will be cut from eight to six. But the weekend’s on-track excitement is only part of a packed schedule loaded with activities for all kinds of fans.

Talladega Superspeedway will be cranking the entertainment up a notch on Friday evening with its popular “Big One on the Blvd.” bash, which will include drivers parading down Talladega Blvd. before they oversee some hilarious and outrageous fan competitions. The party continues into Saturday night following the Fr8Auctions 250 and Foodland/Food Giant Qualifying for the 1000Bulbs.com 500 with the Saturday Night Infield Concert presented by Wind Creek Casino and Hotel headlined by Chris Janson, featuring Chris Shrader and DJ Mark A.D. Admission is FREE to anyone with a 1000Bulbs.com 500 ticket.

Families can also take advantage of opportunities to enhance their Talladega experience. Kids 12-and-younger receive FREE admission on Saturday for the Fr8Auctions 250 while on Sunday, they receive $50 off any grandstand or tower ticket to the 1000Bulbs.com 500.

The Kids VIP Experience presented by Children’s of Alabama is available for kids 12-and-younger accompanied by an adult with a Pre-Race Pit Pass Upgrade. Kids can choose how they want to utilize their VIP experience, from taking hot laps around the track to having a reserved spot at the Drivers Meeting Red Carpet. On Saturday evening, families can gather at the FOX Sports 1 Dome (located behind the International Motorsports Hall of Fame) for Kids Movie Night, which will feature the showing of The Lego Batman Movie. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. CDT.

There are also special ticket options still available for military and first responders, teachers and educators, college students and groups. Once they arrive at NASCAR’s largest tri-oval, there are some excellent ways to engage with the sport throughout the weekend, from the perks of several VIP upgrade options to interactive exhibits and driver appearances in the Fan Zone located outside the grandstands near Turn 4.

Not only are race weekends a joy for the locals, but Talladega Superspeedway also has fans who make the trek from far away with 73 percent of them coming from out of state (about half of those traveling an average of 300 miles to reach NASCAR’s Most Competitive track). As a result, the track generates more than $434 million annually for Alabama and provides jobs for thousands of workers, producing a massive economic boost for the area.
