“Gander Outdoors 400” coming to Dover International Speedway

Dover International Speedway and Gander Outdoors, the Official Outdoor Company of NASCAR, have reached a partnership agreement for the entitlement of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff race on Sunday, Oct. 7, track officials announced today.

The “Gander Outdoors 400” Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff race (NBCSN, 2 p.m. EDT) is the first race in the Round of 12 of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series postseason. A dozen drivers will look to secure playoff advancement after 400 grueling laps at the Monster Mile, the world’s fastest one-mile oval.

Dover International Speedway has hosted a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series postseason race every year since the format was adopted in 2004.

Gander Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, was purchased and rebranded by Marcus Lemonis, Chairman of Camping World Holdings, in May 2017. Gander Outdoors is a leading U.S. retailer of outdoor equipment for various types of activities such as hunting, fishing, marine, camping, hiking, and biking with more than 60 retail locations across the country.  Gander Outdoors will also be the title sponsor of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series beginning in 2019.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Dover International Speedway in sponsoring this exciting playoff race at the Monster Mile,” said Lemonis. “We have a long-standing partnership with NASCAR through our Camping World Brand and continue to look for opportunities to expand our support of NASCAR.

The Oct. 5-7 NASCAR tripleheader weekend at Dover International Speedway also includes the “Bar Harbor 200” presented by Sea Watch International NASCAR Xfinity Series playoff race on Saturday, Oct. 6 and the “Crosley 125” NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race on Friday, Oct. 5.

“Our customer base has a passion for the outdoor lifestyle so having Gander Outdoors be center stage for our playoff race is terrific,” said Mike Tatoian, Dover International Speedway’s president and CEO. “They are not only committed to our Monster Mile fans but even more so committed to the entire NASCAR community. We are excited and thankful to have them on board with us.”
