Kansas Speedway Introduces New Ad Campaign

Leveraging the unexpected, dramatic and unpredictable action at Kansas Speedway in 2017, Kansas Speedway has launched its new ad campaign – “Rated U for Unexpected.”

The movie-parody theme conveys the action-packed drama of a NASCAR race at Kansas Speedway, highlighting the unexpected moments from last year’s races. The new TV spot and in-theater trailer also feature movie-style reviews from race fans and media. Along with the unexpected drama that unfolds on track, the campaign features other unexpected benefits of a race day at Kansas Speedway – like free general parking, the option to bring in your own food and drink, the ability to rent scanners and listen to drivers discuss strategy with their crew chiefs, youth ticket pricing, options to secure up-close access to the pre-race festivities and several additional fan experience opportunities.

“We really are excited about our campaign this year. Not only does it highlight the memorable, unpredictable moments during a race when the best drivers in the world are competing in Kansas City, but it also features those unexpected aspects that enhance the guest experience,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “We think it’s a campaign that will be well-received by our loyal fans who love NASCAR. We also think it will appeal to new fans and encourage them to come out and experience a race in person.”

In addition to an aggressive digital advertising campaign, Kansas Speedway will utilize traditional media such as radio, TV, print and outdoor in more than a dozen regional markets. Also, for the first time ever, starting in April Kansas Speedway will feature its campaign in six movie theaters across Kansas City with a 30-second trailer playing before movie previews, ads on lobby screens, large posters and driver cutouts at each location. Fans will be encouraged to take photos with the driver cutouts and share on social media.

The campaign was created by Kansas Speedway’s advertising agency, Trozzolo, based in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kansas Speedway, a premier motorsports facility in the Midwest, hosts two NASCAR race weekends a year, in addition to hosting approximately 200 other events throughout the year. Kansas Speedway’s first race weekend of the season is May 11-12 with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series under the lights. In the fall, the NASCAR playoffs return Oct. 20-21 with the NASCAR XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Also in the fall is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards series finale.
