13th Annual AWF Wild Game Cook-Off on Saturday, February 24

Get ready to fire up the grills because it’s almost time for a tasty battle with some of the best backyard chefs in the state of Alabama. A Talladega Superspeedway tradition – the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off – is set to return to NASCAR’s Most Competitive track on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Cook-Off teams will fire up their grills, smokers and fryers in the same place where NASCAR’s elite rev up their engines for battle during the track’s NASCAR weekends. Held in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage, teams will spend hours prepping delicious dishes that consist of various game animals, birds and fish. Everyone who attends gets to sample the mouthwatering delicacies, some of which include duck, dove, pheasant, wild boar, venison, shrimp and more.

In addition to the delectable food prepared by some of Alabama’s best wild game chefs, the event will also feature live music, door prizes, raffles and an incredible array of spectacular and unique silent auction items which will be displayed along the center aisle of the garage. Expected auction items include autographed racing memorabilia, outdoor and college-themed art prints and more.

Tickets to attend the AWF Wild Game Cook-Off are $40 per person, or $50 per couple. Youth under the age of 15 are free. Another highlight of the day will be a chance to take a HOT LAP ride around the world’s biggest and baddest race track (tickets for HOT LAP rides sold separately). While the delicious sampling and entertainment begins at 4:00 p.m. CST, gates open earlier for the HOT LAP rides, which run from 3-4:30 p.m. CST. Tickets for the HOT LAP rides are ONLY $25 in advance or $40 the day of the event.

To purchase tickets, pre-order rides around the track or participate as a cook team call Alabama Wildlife Federation at 1-800-822-9453 or visit their website at www.alabamawildlife.org.

“Every year we have a great turnout at this event,” said Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch. “There’s something for everyone at the AWF Cook-Off. Families can come out and enjoy the wonderful, one-of-a-kind dishes prepared by the best chefs in the state, bid on some unique auction items and take a ride around NASCAR’s biggest track. We always look forward to this event because the Cook-Off also signifies the start of a new season with the most exciting racing in the world at Talladega Superspeedway.”

Cook-Off teams will compete in three different divisions which include wild game, fish and fowl. Prizes will be presented to the first through third place winners in each division, as well as a “Best Overall Winner,” which will be invited to the state finals held in Millbrook, AL on August 4, 2018 to compete for the title of AWF 2018 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion. Local Media and celebrities will serve as judges for the Cook-Off and will be announced soon.
