Darlington Raceway to Sponsor Coastal Carolina Baseball Game on Saturday April 8

Two of South Carolina’s premier sports traditions are partnering together for a fun day at the ballpark for its fans on Saturday, April 8.

Darlington Raceway, the iconic NASCAR track, will sponsor the Coastal Carolina University baseball game against Louisiana-Lafayette at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, SC. Coastal Carolina is the defending NCAA College World Series champions.

The game, slated for a 2 p.m. start on April 8, will feature in-game promotions, race ticket giveaways and much more. The Darlington Raceway pace car will also be on display at the stadium that day.

“We’re pleased to sponsor a Coastal Carolina baseball game this season,” track President Kerry Tharp said. “Coastal Carolina’s baseball team had a magical run to the College World Series title last year. Their championship brought a great deal of pride to our state and we’re excited to build a strong partnership with them this year.”

Following their College World Series championship in 2016, CCU head baseball coach Gary Gilmore was honored during Bojangles’ Southern 500 pre-race ceremonies. Members of the team were also honored during the track’s NASCAR XFINITY Series Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200 race last September.

College students attending the game are encouraged to visit the track’s information booth to learn about its college ticket program, which is an affordable way for students to enjoy the Bojangles’ Southern 500 with a fun tailgating atmosphere.
