Martinsville Speedway’s 2015 Dates Include Tradition, Excitement

Martinsville Speedway will welcome the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series back to the east coast after a lengthy west-coast swing next spring and again host the seventh race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup next fall.

Both of Martinsville Speedway’s 2015 Sprint Cup races are in their traditional spots on the calendar with the STP 500 scheduled for March 29 and the Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 on November 1.

The STP 500 will be Sprint Cup series’ first stop at a half-mile track in 2015 and will offer the season’s first taste of true short-track racing with all the action only the Half-Mile of Mayhem can offer.

“Although our dates are relatively the same as they have been in the past, the schedule has changed around us and we’re very enthused about that,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “I’m thrilled to be the first race after the west-coast swing. I’m sure fans will be more than ready for racing action to return home to one of the most historic and traditional venues on the circuit.”

The Goody’s® Headache Relief Shot® 500 on Nov. 1, 2015 is the only race on a half-mile track in the Chase, and will again kick off the Eliminator Round of the Chase. It may be the most important race in the Eliminator Round because a win guarantees the driver a spot in the Championship Round, while a bad race will have the opposite effect.

“Martinsville’s position in the Chase has always been a key one, and it’s even more important than ever now,” said Campbell. “We believe the seventh race in the Chase is important to the drivers and teams and even bigger for our fans.”

Martinsville Speedway also retained its traditional NASCAR Camping World Truck Series dates, with the Kroger 250 scheduled for March 28 and the Kroger 200 on October 31.

The 2015 STP 500 will be broadcast on FOX while the 2015 Goody’s® Headache Relief Sho 500 will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network. Both the Kroger 250 and Kroger 200 will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 in 2015.
