Bristol Motor Speedway names Becky Cox Vice President of Communications

Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) officials announce an expansion to its communications division as Becky Cox joins the company as vice president of communications.

Cox will be responsible for the leadership, strategy, collaboration, development and implementation of the company’s integrated publications/communications efforts. She will join the Speedway’s Communications Department effective May 27.

She brings nearly 20 years of sports marketing and public relations experience to the Speedway. Over the past 10 years, she led communications efforts for NASCAR series sponsors, Sprint and Nationwide Insurance, and was a team member when each of the companies accepted NASCAR’s prestigious Marketing Achievement Award. A native of Cincinnati, Cox attended her first-ever NASCAR race at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2001 after leading partnership and contract development with the track on behalf of Nextel Partners, Inc.

“In addition to her robust NASCAR network, Becky possesses a diverse background in sports PR,” said BMS General Manager Jerry Caldwell. “Her credentials will be advantageous for us as we prepare for the Battle at Bristol and beyond.”

Cox was the sole, full-time employee of the 1997 NCAA Women’s Final Four (basketball) local organizing committee and has corporate experience that spans the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, the Memorial Tournament and more.

A graduate of Northern Kentucky University, she was a two-year letter winner in volleyball and a member of the Norse Leadership Society. She has resided in Louisville, Ky., Charlotte, N.C. and Columbus, Ohio.

Cox relocates to Tri-Cities, Tenn. at the end of May.

Kevin Triplett, the current vice president of communications, transitions to vice president of public affairs. In this newly-created role, he will focus on cultivating relationships with industry and community leaders while enhancing the track’s visibility among key community stakeholders.

“Future growth opportunities for our facility are limitless,” added Caldwell. “We continue to explore new avenues aimed at expanding our brand while enhancing experiences for our community, fans and sponsors. Part of that process includes evaluating our current structure and ensuring we have the appropriate personnel in place to support these initiatives.

“Becky’s unique skill set strengthens our current communications team and allows Kevin to build upon his core strengths, ensuring our stakeholders know how they may benefit from the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
