NASCAR Express Train Sold Out

With five days remaining until its departure, Sonoma Raceway and the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority are happy to announce that the inaugural NASCAR Express Train is sold out.

For the first time ever, race fans had the option to ride the train to the 25th Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday, June 23, and they responded in droves. The train can accommodate 500 passengers and the last ticket was sold by the raceway this afternoon.

“We felt sure this was going to be a popular program, but until you put it out to the market you can never be certain,” said Steve Page, president and general manager of Sonoma Raceway. “We know the people riding the NASCAR Express will have a terrific time this Sunday and we look forward to building on this success in future years.”

The NASCAR Express train will depart from Sacramento, with stops in Davis and Suisun City, and traverse some of Northern California’s most spectacular scenery before dropping passengers just steps from the raceway’s main entrance on race-day morning.

The NASCAR Express train is an exciting development for the raceway, which had worked for years to make train transportation available to its race fans. The program finally came together this year after upgrades to the adjacent tracks and through the coordinated efforts of a host of railroad and regulatory agencies. It marks the first time some of the track has ever been used for passenger rail travel.

The NASCAR Express offers fans a unique option to avoid highway traffic and parking hassles on race-day, and will feature two café cars with on board food and beverage service. Fans will be able to renew or purchase their NASCAR Express tickets for next year during the race weekend.
