Arnold recognized for dedication to safety at Dover International Speedway

Throughout the May 31-June 2, 2013 race weekend, Dover International Speedway employees and volunteers were cheering for their fellow teammate, Charlie Arnold. Arnold is not a NASCAR driver and didn’t compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday, but he was recognized for his unfailing work ethic and dedication by being named this year’s ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award recipient at the Monster Mile.

Arnold joined the Monster Mile team in 2001 as an EMT-B, and has since completed his EMT certification and been promoted to lead EMT. A valuable and dedicated emergency associate for over 13 years, Arnold also brings his ministry practices to the track in form of morning prayer, homemade pre-race snacks and a helping hand whenever needed.

“Charlie’s leadership, faith and dedication have always led us to great things at Dover International Speedway,” said Jack Wilson, Motorsports Safety Training Coordinator at Dover International Speedway. “Dover and ServiceMaster Clean have chosen a well-deserving recipient in Charlie.”

Away from the track, Arnold serves as a volunteer firefighter, rescue swimmer, chaplain and EMS captain for Lewes Fire Department, in addition to owning Arnold’s Power Wash, LLC. Prior accomplishments include being named “Firefighter of the Year” in Lewes, Del. and an Honorary Colonel for Cape Henlopen High School’s Junior ROTC.

Since its inception in 2010, the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award has recognized 36 track team members across the country. Award recipients have been key members of full-time track staff and dedicated volunteers selected by track management personnel.

Each award winner’s name is engraved on a plaque that is displayed at the track where the recipient works or volunteers. A personal plaque is also presented to recipients during their track’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend.

“The ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award allows us to recognize the people behind-the-scenes who dedicate themselves to safety and the success of each race weekend,” said Tom Coba, president of ServiceMaster Clean and Merry Maids. “Charlie has continuously showcased his commitment to both safety and the track.”
