The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma and The NASCAR Foundation are teaming up for an online auction hosted on NASCAR.COM/foundation Nov. 19 - Dec. 3.

"More than 12,000 kids die every year from life-threatening injuries - more than all other causes combined," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing and co-founder of the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma. "It's the number one killer of children in America, and it can happen anywhere at any time to any child. We are grateful to The NASCAR Foundation for helping us raise awareness and funds by hosting our online auction for fans."

"The NASCAR Foundation is proud to partner with great charities like Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma through our online auctions," said Lorene King, executive director of The NASCAR Foundation. "The impact that the institute is making towards advancements in the treatment of pediatric trauma is truly remarkable."

The auction features a variety of autographed memorabilia including race-used autographed sheet metal, firesuits and a steering wheel. There are also several helmets hand-painted by the children of NASCAR families and autographed by various drivers. Fans can also bid on several race experiences. No patient produces more anxiety in caregivers than the critically injured child. Budget shortfalls have forced EMS services and other pre-hospital care to choose more general types of training. When medical personnel are appropriately trained, there is a better outcome - children's lives are saved. To continue funding the life-saving research and medical education needed to impact this number one killer of children, we need the help of fans.

Fans can save kids' lives by supporting the Childress Institute in several ways:
