Late race accident ends race for Akinori Ogata at Iowa

After making some big gains during the second half of the Pork Be Inspired 150, Akinori Ogata was caught up in a late race melee, ending his day on the 132nd lap.  The adjustments made during the halfway break by the ENEOS Motor Oil No. 49 team really helped Akinori as he was able to advance towards the front of the field.  Unfortunately, the accident left Ogata with a 31st place finish.

“I’m really happy with my MacDonald Motorsports team and the adjustments made by my crew chief Dave Fuge,” explained Akinori.  “They found an oil leak during the half-way break and were able to get it fixed in just 8 minutes and get me back out for the second half of the race.  I really have to thank ENEOS Motor oil as well for all of their support.  I wish we could have brought them home a better finish but at least we had a strong car.”

On lap 132, a few cars got together ahead of Akinori, leaving him no where to go.  The damage from the accident ended the race for the ENEOS Motor Oil No. 49 team.

The MacDonald Motorsports No. 49 sits 13th in the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East owner standings following the race in Iowa.  The next race for the K&N East Series team is in 4 weeks at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.
