Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross driver Scott Speed wins fourth-consecutive rallycross championship

In the first-ever season of Americas Rallycross (ARX), Scott Speed raced his way to a fourth-consecutive rallycross championship with Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross in his No. 41 Oberto Circle K Bettle Rallycross. Speed narrowly edged out his teammate, Tanner Foust (No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle Rallycross) in second, and Subaru’s Patrick Sandell finished third.

The two Beetles were neck and neck all season, with Foust winning the first race in the history of ARX at Silverstone in May. Speed didn’t let his teammate stay out front for long, knocking off back-to-back wins at both Circuit of the Americas and Trois-Rivieres. However, Foust kept the gap small all-season long, with both VARX drivers finishing on the podium at every race.

Despite a close battle, Speed scored enough points at the return to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and won his fourth-straight rallycross title.

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross fields two full-time entries in Americas Rallycross, with Scott Speed and Tanner Foust amassing four rallycross series titles (’15/Speed, ’16/Speed, ‘17/Speed, ’18/Speed), 31 wins and 59 podiums in five seasons of competition.
