Mason Mitchell Motorsports SCOTT 150 Post Race Review

The SCOTT 150 at the Chicagoland Speedway kicked off the second half of the 2018 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season Thursday evening. 18-year-old Blaine Perkins who was making his second start on a 1.5-mile track and just his third start of the 2018 season just missed a top-ten finish coming home in the 11th position. The finish marks Perkins best finish of 2018 in three starts. Teammate Max Tullman didn’t have the same fortune as his MMM teammate. Racing inside the top-15, Tullman was forced to make an unscheduled pit-stop at lap 67 of the 100-lap event for a tire issue. The stop forced the sportscar ace back to 17th in the final running order.

Perkins next start will come in the 2018 ARCA finale at the Kansas Speedway on October 19th.

Max Tullman will be back in action driving the No. 78 for MMM next weekend when the series heads to the 7/8-mile Iowa Speedway located in Newton, Iowa.

DRIVER QUOTES:

Blaine Perkins: “This weekend was a great experience overall for me. We made big gains throught the day and the race. Getting seat time in these ARCA cars has been a learning experience and helped make me a better driver overall. I’m really looking forward to racing at another mile and a half at the Kansas Speedway in October.”

Max Tullman. “It was a rough end to our evening. We had a car that had great long run speed. We just needed to be better off the initial start in a run. With 35 to go I felt a vibration and didn’t want to risk cutting a tire so we decided to be safe rather than sorry. 17th isn’t what we hoped for but I learned a lot. I’m looking forward to racing at Iowa Speedway next weekend. It’s a track that offers drivers multiple options and lane choice.”

Iowa Speedway will mark a homecoming for the team as team owner Mason Mitchell grew up 25 minutes from the speedway in Des Moines, Iowa. The team captured a hometown victory in 2015 with owner/driver Mason Mitchell.

The Fans with Benefits 150 will be tape delayed on MAV TV on a date to later be announced. Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring for all on-track activities from Iowa including the race which is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. ET green flag.
