NWES Joins Goodwood Festival Of Speed

After enjoying a spectacular edition of the Brands Hatch American SpeedFest and celebrating its first driver to debut in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series received another International recognition with two invitations to the world famous Goodwood Festival of Speed.

From Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2 two NWES cars will roar up the iconic 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill Climb together with some of the most incredible modern and classic cars – from Formula 1 cars to Le Mans Prototypes and  – in a spectacular event that in 81 years has established itself as a unique celebration of motorsports and car culture and heritage with no equals in the world.

Piloting the #50 Chevrolet SS will be NASCAR Whelen Euro Series President / CEO and creator Jerome Galpin with a wide racing experience, Galpin is an active rally driver who usually races with his wife Anne Galpin as navigator.

“It’s a great honour for the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series to be invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and being featured among the most famous and legendary cars of the world,” said Galpin. “Two weeks after a massively successful NASCAR event at Brands Hatch and right after having our first driver entering a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event, this definitely shows how fast the series is growing to become one of the most attractive in Europe!”

The second invitation was bound to be assigned to the leader of the NWES Teams Championship and at the end of a fierce battle in the first two events of the 2017 season it was the #37 Knauf Racing Team Ford Mustang that came out on top. Thomas Ferrando, one of the brightest talents of the European NASCAR series, will drive his Mustang up the hill at Goodwood facing the competition of many international stars.

“It’s incredible! We didn’t expect to have this opportunity this season because there are so many competitive teams in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. It will be fantastic to compete among so many legendary drivers and cars,” said Ferrando, who sits fourth in points in the ELITE 1 Division and leads the ELITE standings thanks to three wins in four races. “I am really happy to have Knauf with me at Goodwood! We have done a lot of work on the #37 Mustang and this is a great recognition for the entire team, from the mechanics to my teammates. I’m looking forward to a great weekend!”

Additionally, the two NWES cars will be part of the NASCAR delegation and displayed throughout the weekend in the prestigious Middle paddock alongside other NASCAR cars, Formula 1 and many other legendary cars that wrote the history of motorsports all over the world.

After the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will head to the Netherlands for the third event of the 2017 season, the Autospeedway American Style, on July 15-16. The “Fastest Half Mile Oval In Europe” will host four exciting oval races that will be streamed live on Fanschoice.tv and the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Facebook page.
