Driver Kyle Benjamin, the latest in a long list of NASCAR rookies making headlines this season, returns to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driving for Venturini Motorsports (VMS) in Friday’s Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway.
Benjamin, a two-time ARCA Series winner with VMS, will reunite with his former team to pilot the organizations No.15 GO PUCK Toyota Camry entry at Michigan.
The news of Benjamin’s series return comes just days after the 19 year-old from Easley, South Carolina earned his first NASCAR XFINITY Series pole award driving for Toyota’s Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) at Pocono Raceway.
“It’s a great feeling to come back to the ARCA series to run Michigan,” says Benjamin.
“Breaking into the series a few years back with the Venturini’s provides a big advantage going into the weekend – we’ve had a lot of success together. I’m very familiar with the team and know the effort Billy’s (Venturini) guys put into every race. I’m happy to be back.”
Making his ARCA debut with VMS in 2013, Benjamin at 15 years old, became the series’ youngest winner with his victory at Madison International Speedway. He earned his second ARCA win at Salem Speedway. In addition to his ARCA Series victories, the teenager captured two General Tire pole awards and notched eight top-5 and 15 top-10 finishes in 20 career series starts between the years 2013-2016.
“I’m thankful for all the support. We’ve got GO PUCK and Cometic onboard to make it all possible. We’re gonna do everything we can as a team to get our Toyota Camry back into victory lane,” added Benjamin.
Benjamin, a former NASCAR Next driver, signed on with JGR earlier this year to drive four NASCAR XFINITY Series events splitting time behind the wheel of the team’s popular No.18 and No.20 Toyotas.
Prior to his rise into the NASCAR XFINITY Series, Benjamin began his racing career early moving up the ranks through go-karts, Bandoleros and Super Late Models. In addition to his ARCA wins, Benjamin is also a five-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series East winner with six series pole awards, 14-top 5 and 19 top-10 finishes to this credit.
The Corrigan Oil 200 from Michigan International Speedway will air live on FOX SPORTS 1 starting Friday at 6:00 p.m. The on-track action begins Thursday, June 15 with practice from 1 – 3 p.m. and General Tire Pole Qualifying at 1:40 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
