With a second CARS series victory this season, reaped late last week at the Concord Speedway in North Carolina, Raphaël Lessard will once again be behind the wheel this weekend – this time in Lucama (North Carolina) at the Southern National Motorsports Park for the CSX Play it Safe 250 presented by MMIA.
The young driver from St-Joseph- de-Beauce, Quebec, Canada is still in first place in the drivers’ championship, with a 15-point lead over his closest rival, Dennis Setzer, after seven of the 10-race CARS SUPER LATE MODEL TOUR series.
For the occasion, Lessard will, in partnership with Toyota and TRD, wear the colours of CSX Transportation, a major rail freight carrier with a network of over 34,000 km serving Quebec, Ontario and 23 U.S. states, for the “Play it Safe around Railroad Tracks” railway safety awareness campaign.
The Southern National Motorsports Park is a 4/10-mile, oval auto racing track with 17° turns and 7° straight-a-ways.
The 125-lap race, CSX Play it Safe 250 presented by MMIA, will be broadcast live on the CARS Tour TV website (paid option). You can also follow Raphaël’s on-track performance – free of charge and in real time -on Race-Monitor.com.
