Performance Tech Prepares for Rolex 24 at ROAR

Performance Tech Motorsports and its four-driver lineup is preparing for the Rolex 24 At Daytona during the Roar Before the Rolex 24, Jan. 8-10 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The lineup for the Roar Before the Rolex 24 and the Rolex 24 At Daytona at the end of January will see the return of team veteran James French and the addition of team newcomers Dr. Jim Norman, Josh Norman and Brandon Gdovic.

“We’ve really got a good group of guys with us this weekend, and everybody’s excited to get back to racing,” Performance Tech Motorsports Team Principal Brent O’Neill said. “We’re excited to have James back with us this season. He did such a great job last year, and I think we’ll see him build on that this year. Hopefully we’ll see a few more poles and maybe a few wins.

“I think Jim, Josh and Brandon are all going to be great additions to our team for Daytona. We got to know them at track last year, so I think they’ll fit right in with the team. Josh doesn’t have a lot of downforce experience, but he’s a smart kid and a good driver, so I have confidence we’re going to be up to speed and ready to go. I think being with James will really help him out, so it should be good.”

French, from Sheboygan, Wis., returns to the team for the full 2016 season in the No. 38 Prototype Challenge Oreca FLM09. He joined the team late in the 2014 season and competed in his first full season with Performance Tech in 2015, helping the team to three pole positions and five podium finishes.

Jim and Josh Norman and Gdovic are new to Performance Tech, but they aren’t new to racing.

Jim Norman, recognized as one of the world’s foremost experts on parathyroid disease and surgery, is a seasoned veteran of multiple series. He has competed in the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, GRAND-AM Rolex Series, American Le Mans Series, North American Endurance Cup and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series, where he’s picked up several championships and numerous wins and podium finishes, including winning the Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona in the GX class in 2013. He also has experience sharing the car with his son Josh as the two co-drove in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series last season.

Josh Norman, 22, has climbed the racing ladder quickly after starting at a Skip Barber school at age 16. Josh Norman, a senior at the University of Florida, has competed in Sports Car Club of America, Porsche Club of America and the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series. The Rolex 24 will mark his WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut.

Along with the Normans, Gdovic competed in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series last season. The Super Trofeo series was his first venture into sports car racing, but he also has raced in ARCA, NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, NASCAR Whelen Series, IMCA Modified and Legends competition.

The Roar Before The Rolex 24 At Daytona will give all four Performance Tech drivers plenty of seat time before the official season opener Jan. 28-31 at the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
