ARCA Veteran John Wes Townley to Race Third Entry for Mason Mitchell Motorsports at Kansas

Fresh off his first victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, veteran John Wes Townley will make his first ARCA Racing Series start of the 2015 season at the Kansas Speedway in The Full Throttle S’loonshine 9.89 Friday evening.

Townley will drive the No. 88 Zaxby’s Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports.

“I am really looking forward to being back behind the wheel of an ARCA car,” Townley stated.

“I have always enjoyed racing at Kansas. We always have excellent cars and always race very well. I feel like I have a little unfinished business there. I’ve had top-five finishes but the win has eluded me.”

“Any time you come off of a win it’s empowering and gives you confidence heading back to the track. You have to approach every weekend with the same mentality and that’s what I plan to do this weekend. I can’t thank Zaxby’s and Mason Mitchell Motorsports enough for the opportunity to be back racing in ARCA this weekend.”

Mason Mitchell Motorsports has fielded two entries throughout 2015, this weekend marks the first time the championship team will field three entries.

“This is a big step for us as a team to have John Wes Townely driving,” Owner Mason Mitchell stated. “He has a lot of momentum right now after winning his first truck race at Vegas. He always races well at the Kansas Speedway in the ARCA cars.”

“We wanted to field a third entry for Kansas. We have proved we can field multiple entries and be successful. I believe all of our cars have a solid chance to win Friday evening.”

Townley is no stranger to the Kansas Speedway. In three prior starts at the 1.5 mile track with the ARCA Racing Series the Georgia native’s earned one top-five and has earned two top-ten finishes with a best finish of third in the 2013 event.

Townley has one ARCA win in his ARCA Racing Series career.  He won the 2013 season opening race at the famed Daytona International Speedway.

Mason Mitchell Motorsports has two wins in 2015. The first win came at the Winchester Speedway in June and the second win came in July at the Iowa Speedway.
