John Wes Townley Hoping to Bookend ARCA Season Start with Kansas Victory

John Wes Townley, who kicked-off the year in dramatic fashion winning the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season opener from the pole position at Daytona International Speedway, will drive his Venturini Motorsports (VMS) No.15 Zaxby’s Toyota in Friday’s Kansas Lottery 98.9 at Kansas Speedway. Townley looks to finish his season where he started – in victory lane.

“I’m looking forward to driving the No. 15 Zaxby’s Toyota for Venturini Motorsports on Friday in Kansas. We had a really good test there a few weeks ago and learned a lot,” said Townley. “I’m excited about working with Kevin Reed and his guys this weekend. We won the season opener in the 15 car at Daytona. I’m hoping we can pull off the ‘bookend’ and finish off the ARCA season with another win. It will be a challenge, but we’ll give it our best shot Friday night.”

Crew chief Kevin Reed, with a series leading six victories, will reunite with Townley at Kansas hoping to duplicate their Daytona efforts.

Townley qualified third in last year’s ARCA Racing Kansas Lottery 98.9 race at Kansas Speedway, leading eight laps before an accident on lap-70 ended his day delivering the Watkinsville, Georgia driver a disappointing 28th place finish.

Since 2010, Townley has competed with VMS on part-time basis earning one victory, one pole position and (2) top-5 finishes in six events.

Townley, who currently drives full-time for Red Horse Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is coming off his fourth top-10 of the season earning a seventh place finish last week at Las Vegas, currently occupies the 14th spot in the series championship point standings.

The October 4th Kansas Lottery 98.9 from Kansas Speedway will be aired live on FOX Sports 1 at 8:30 p.m. EST. The event will also feature live timing and scoring of all on-track activities at ARCAracing.com.
