Bryan Ortiz to Make First Start at Prestigious Short Track

Bryan Ortiz will make his first-ever start at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla. when the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East takes to the historic track for a 150-lap showcase, the third points-paying race of the 2013 season, on Saturday night, April 13.

In the world of NASCAR driver development, racing at Five Flags Speedway is practically a rite of passage. The speedy half-mile track is home to the Snowball Derby, arguably the most publicized Late Model race in America. It has attracted many racers from across the nation with former winners ranging from Darrell Waltrip to Kyle Busch.

Ortiz, piloting the No. 4 Toyota for Rev Racing, hopes to add his name to the track’s list of past winners.

Bryan Ortiz, on racing at Pensacola for the first time… “From the sounds of it, it’s a really fast racetrack that is tough on tires. I’ll be a rookie there … I know a lot of my competitors have competed in Late Models there in the past. It’s a well-known, prestigious short track that I’ve been hearing about since I moved (to Charlotte) and I can’t wait to get on it and turn some laps.”

Last outing… A mechanical failure foiled Ortiz’s night last Saturday at Greenville Pickens Speedway, relegating him to a 24th-place finish in a race postponed by two weeks due to inclement weather. Ortiz had the seventh-fastest lap time of the weekend’s final practice.
