Jeff Gordon captured the win for the 65th annual Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 for his 88th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory. Gordon captured his first win this season and his 17th top-10 finish of the year. He led a total of 78 of the 500 laps that made up the distance. Today’s win moves him up two spots in the standings to third.

"Of course we had to really run in Matt's tracks.  He was strong," said Gordon.  "I felt like they made some adjustments, made his car even better.  That's probably the most patient I've had to be here, or in a race in a long time, just because I didn't see his car fading like I thought it would.  It just took a little longer, and it finally did start to give up a little bit, and we took advantage of that."

Matt Kenseth comes home in the second position after an up and down battle in the race all day long. Kenseth finds himself tied with Jimmie Johnson with the series points lead going into the next three remaining races of the year. He also was credited of leading the most laps of 202. Kenseth was just 0.596 seconds behind the race winner at the line.

Clint Bowyer came home in the third position after a solid day. Bowyer started the race from the fifth spot and led 60 laps of the event. Today was the 10th time in 16 starts at Martinsville Speedway where he has finished up into the Top-10.

Danica Patrick was the highest finishing rookie coming home in the 17th position. Patrick started the race from the 41st spot after a not so good qualifying lap. She had to go to a back up car after a crash Friday in the practice session.

The next race for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be at the Texas Motor Speedway. Race coverage will begin live Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Et. on ESPN. The Performance Racing Network will provide the radio coverage of the event. Jimmie Johnson is the defending race winner.

Darrell Wallace, Jr. captured his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win today at the Martinsville Speedway. Wallace held off many drivers like Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, and Johnny Sauter to score the victory. He led a total of 96 of the 200 laps that made up the Kroger 200. He becomes the second African-American driver to win a national series race in NASCAR with Wendell Scott.

Brendan Gaughan finished in the second spot after posting his fifth top-10 finish in a total of 14 starts at the Martinsville Speedway. Gaughan lost the race by 1.673 seconds behind the race winner. Today’s top-10 finish became his 10th this season.

Jeb Burton quietly finished in the top-three today. He earned his second finish in the top-10 after making only three starts at Martinsville Speedway. He goes into Texas Motor Speedway looking to capture another win in 2013. It is also the site where he captured his first career win in the series.

Matt Crafton still comes out of Martinsville leading the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings with three races remaining. After Ty Dillon’s troubles today with Kevin Harvick, James Buescher will slot back into the second spot. Crafton leads the standings by 51 points. For a second time this year, Crafton has finished outside of the top-10.

Next race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be next week at the Texas Motor Speedway. Race coverage will begin live at 8:00 p.m. Et. on Fox Sports 1 Friday night. Radio coverage will be provided by the Motor Racing Network.

Denny Hamlin captured the pole for Sunday’s 65th annual Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 with a fast time of 19.013 seconds, 99.595 mph. Hamlin broke the previous track record on his run set back in April by Jimmie Johnson. This will make it the 18th time this season where we seen a new track qualifying record being broken.

“We talked about most of it earlier, but like I said I knew we were going to be pretty strong,” said Hamlin. “I knew we had a shot at the pole and beyond that I think our car was pretty good in race trim as well. So, usually anytime we qualify on the pole it usually bodes well for us on Sunday and hopefully this weekend is no different from that.”

Jimmie Johnson qualified second with a fast lap of 19.061 seconds, 99.344 mph. This will make Johnson’s 20th time this season where he has started in the top-10. It also will be his 15th time in 24 career starts at Martinsville Speedway. He was just 0.048 seconds behind Hamlin.

Kyle Busch will start third after tying Johnson with his 19.061 second lap time. Kyle will make his 22nd start in the top-10 after 33 races this season. Kyle hopes to get a strong run on Sunday to advance him up further in the standings going into the final three races.

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. was the highest qualifying rookie with his best lap coming in at 19.245 seconds, 98.394 mph.

No drivers failed to qualify for the event as only 43 cars showed up to qualify.

The No. 10 Godaddy.com Chevrolet will have to go to the rear after going to a back up car after crashing in practice. Patrick qualified in the 41st position.

Denny Hamlin was the fastest after being the last truck to go out in qualifying this afternoon with a time of 19.625 seconds, 96.489 mph. He earned his first career pole in the series after making 16 previous starts. Earlier in the day, he also won the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

“I didn’t know what our first lap was, I knew it wasn’t good,” said Denny Hamlin. “Our truck was kind of skating all over the place. Really, this track goes through a weird transition where it’s almost better if the sun is out. I knew that getting heat in the tires was going to be the challenge. I didn’t think it was going to be good enough for the pole when I ran it. We felt like we were a little better in practice than that. Our time was a little better.”

Last week’s winner, Johnny Sauter ended up second on the qualifying sheet after a solid lap of 19.627 seconds, 96.479 mph. Sauter was just 0.002 seconds slower than the pole sitter. It will mark his sixth top-10 start this year, and goes into this weekend looking for his fourth win of the season.

Darrell Wallace, Jr. was the highest qualifying rookie who will start tomorrow’s race in the third position. Wallace posted a fast lap of 19.644 seconds, 96.396 mph. This will mark ninth top-10 start after 19 races of the season.

Series points leader Matt Crafton will start back in the 13th position with a 19.830 second lap.

Two drivers failed to make the field for the Kroger 200. Those two drivers include: Spencer Gallagher No. 21 and Jennifer Jo Cobb No. 10.

Johnny Sauter scored the win at the Talladega Superspeedway after avoiding a nasty crash coming to the line to finish the race. He earned his third win this season, and his second on a restrictor plate track. Sauter won the race by 1.182 seconds over David Starr.

David Starr captured his second top-10 finish today at the Talladega Superspeedway in eight total starts. He also captured his first top-10 finish this season behind the wheel of the No. 81 BYF.org Toyota.

Ross Castain came home in the third spot after one of his best runs this season. He was one of the drivers who got caught up in the crash on the final lap. He posted his best finish today at the Talladega Superspeedway in his second start.

Matt Crafton sneaks out of Talladega with a 57 point lead over Ty Dillon. He pretty much has the championship locked up with four races remaining.

Jeb Burton captured the pole for tomorrow afternoon’s Fred’s 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway after posting a fast time of 54.353 seconds, 176.182 mph. This is his sixth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series pole in 23 total starts. Tomorrow will mark the his 14th start in the top-10 this season. Jeb marks the eighth different driver at the 2.66-mile oval to capture the pole.

“My guys do a really good job for me and It’s really cool to have this sixth pole,” said Burton. “We’re fourth in points, and we got the next five races coming. I’m really excited for next week when we go back to one of my favorite race tracks that we should’ve won earlier in the year.”

Max Gresham found himself second on the chart when the qualifying session concluded with a fast lap of 54.403 seconds, 176.020 mph. Max will roll off in the top-10 for the fifth time this season in 2013. He was just 0.050 seconds off from the fastest time in qualifying.

Kyle Busch will start third after posting a lap of 54.437 seconds, 175.910 mph. Busch will start in the top-10 for his ninth time this season in nine attempts this year. It will also mark his second top-10 start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at the Talladega Superspeedway.

Points leader Matt Crafton will start in the 23rd spot tomorrow after running a lap of 55.519 seconds, 172.481 mph.

The two drivers that failed to qualify for the Fred’s 250 tomorrow are Danny Efland No. 50 and Jennifer Jo Cobb No. 10.

This weekend the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will head of to the Talladega Superspeedway for the 45th Annual Camping World RV Sales 500. This will be the 32nd race of the 2013 Sprint Cup Season with five races remaining. Matt Kenseth is the defending race winner.

Many of the drivers this weekend include, Sam Hornish, Jr., Austin Dillon, Trevor Bayne, Cole Whitt, Terry Labonte, Landon Cassill, Tony Raines, Bobby Labonte, Justin Allgaier, and Michael Waltrip.

Sam Hornish, Jr. will be the only driver this weekend who will have to qualify 36th or better to lock into the field this weekend.

The top-two drivers in the points standings have both been pretty equal in the past at the restrictor plate tracks. Johnson goes into this weekend with two restrictor plate wins this season at Daytona. In April, he went on to a fifth place finish at the 2.66-mile oval. Last season, Kenseth won the Daytona 500 and then went on to win this race last season. Kenseth goes into this weekend with the best driver rating of 91.5.

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch’s time are running out to win the 2013 championship. Both drivers have captured a win at the Talladega Superspeedway in 2010 with Harvick and 2008 with Kyle Busch. This could be the final shot for the two drivers to win the championship if both get caught up into the big one.

Brad Keselowski became a spoiler last weekend after capturing the victory at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Keselowski became the first non-Chase driver to capture a victory in the playoffs since Kasey Kahne did it in 2011 at Phoenix International Raceway. Keselowski has two wins at the Talladega Superspeedway that came in April of 2009 and 2010.

This weekend the tough trucks will take it to the high banks of the Talladega Superspeedway for the eighth annual Fred’s 250. The entry list currently features a total of 38 drivers to qualify for the event. Parker Kligerman is the defending race winner of the event.

The many fresh faces include, Timmy Hill, Chris Cockrum, Parker Kligerman, Mason Mingus, Danny Efland, Kyle Busch, Scott Stenzel, Caleb Holman, Sean Corr, and Chris Fontaine.

Thirteen drivers will have to lock themselves into the field, since two will go home after qualifying. Those drivers include, Timmy Hill, Justin Lofton, Jennifer Jo Cobb, Parker Kligerman, Jeff Agnew, Mason Mingus, Danny Efland, Scott Stenzel, Clay Greenfield, Caleb Holman, Sean Corr, Chris Fontaine, and Chris Jones.

Matt Crafton finished outside the top-10 for the first time this season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where he finished in the 11th position. Crafton however, was able to keep his lengthy points lead of 41 going into the final races left this season. Crafton said he doesn’t care where the points are at, he just wants to go out to win races. James Buescher’s two race wins since August, helped him move into second in the standings behind Crafton.

Mason Mingus will make his NCWTS debut this weekend in the No. 35 811 Call Before You Dig Chevrolet. In 34 career ARCA Racing starts, he has earned five top-five and 25 top-10 finishes. He also closed out the 2013 season earning two poles during the season.

Parker Kligerman will make a return to the series to drive the No. 20 BRG Motorsports Toyota. Kligerman has not made a start in the series since last season. He goes into this weekend looking to capture his second career NASCAR win.

With five races remaining this season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the chase comes down to about five drivers going for the championship. At the start of the chase, NASCAR put Jeff Gordon into the playoffs after what happened at Richmond International Raceway with Michael Waltrip Racing. The final races this season could be very interesting with the drivers left to go out and win the title.

Matt Kenseth goes into the halfway point of the chase with only a four point lead over Jimmie Johnson. He started out the Chase winning the first two opening races at Chicagoland Speedway and Loudon. Kenseth is one of those drivers who wasn’t expected to run this good after changing teams. He goes into the remaining races with lots of momentum after his dominating year so far.

Jimmie Johnson goes into Talladega this weekend with five wins in the season. Two of those wins came at two of the three restrictor plate races so far this season at Daytona. He will definitely be one of the favorites going into these last few races. Johnson has one win in the chase at Dover earlier this year.

Kevin Harvick finds himself 29 points behind the points leader heading into this weekend. He could be one of the drivers to steal the win at the Talladega Superspeedway to climb higher into the points standings. Harvick has quietly captured three wins this season. One of those wins came at the Kansas Speedway about two weeks ago.

Jeff Gordon finds himself fourth in the standings and 36 points behind the leader. He hopes to capture a win this weekend to stay in the running for the championship. Gordon is the only driver sitting in the top-five without a win this season. His past success at the upcoming races could launch him up further in the standings.

Kyle Busch has not had a great Chase going for him after his past issues at the Kansas Speedway. He is no doubt still in the running, but finds himself fifth in the standings and 37 points behind the leader. Kyle hopes to make a great run in the remaining races to go after his first Sprint Cup championship.

The top-five drivers in the standings have five races left to go if they want to make a final shot for the championship. Of the next five races left, the top-five chase drivers has had lots of success previously at the next few remaining race tracks. Kyle Busch won the pole for tonight’s Dollar General 300 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway after running a fast time of 29.446 seconds, 183.387 mph. He earned his ninth NASCAR Nationwide Series pole this season. He goes into tonight’s race looking for his 11th career win.

Joey Logano will start in the second spot after qualifying just 0.004 seconds behind the pole winner. This will mark the ninth time this season where Logano has started a NNS race in the top-10. He will try for his fourth win tonight and hope to keep the No. 54 behind them in the owner points.

Sam Hornish, Jr. qualified in the third spot after running a fast time of 29.157 seconds, 182.945 mph. He will make his 23rd top-10 start this season tonight at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He goes into tonight looking for a great run to get back around Austin Dillon in the points hunt.

Points leader Austin Dillon, will start in the fourth position with a fast lap of 29.556 seconds, 182.704 mph. Dillon hopes to capture his first win of the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series season tonight. He will need to put down a great run to stretch the points lead out from Sam Hornish, Jr.
