Austin Dillon Named to AARWBA All-American Team

Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon has been elected to the 2011 All-America Team by the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association, following a vote by the national motorsports professionals belonging to the organization.

The AARWBA elects teams of drivers each year to represent a broad spectrum of professional racing in the United States and Dillon is one of 18 drivers elected to the All-America team in 2011.

The 21-year-old grandson of legendary NASCAR team owner Richard Childress became the youngest champion in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season at 21 years, six months and 22 days. He earned race wins at Nashville Superspeedway and Chicagoland Speedway driving the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, along with a series-leading five pole awards, 10 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes. Dillon is the first driver in the 11-year history of the NCWTS to earn the rookie title and then the driving championship the subsequent year.

Other drivers elected to the All-America team in 2011 include Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Dario Franchitti, Will Power, Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Chris Dyson, Guy Smith, Bryan Clauson, Kyle Larson, Andrew Davis, Leh Keen, Del Worsham, Matt Hagan, Josef Newgarden, Patrick Long and Amy Ruman.

The 42nd AARWBA All-America Team Banquet will take place on Sunday, January 8, 2012 in the beautiful Grand Hall at the Train Station of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indianapolis, Ind.  During the gala dinner each award winner is presented with the organization’s coveted “Horsepower” trophy, symbolizing outstanding performance.
