NCWTS: All About Past Expirence at Gateway for Ray Black Jr.

Ray Black Jr. will make his eighth start of the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season on Saturday at the Gateway Motorsports Park. Black will make his second start at Gateway, earning a 24th-place finish there last season. The Florida native currently sits just outside the top 10 in points.

“I like that the corners are different – like corners one and two are different from three and four,” said Black in a release. “It’s one of the series’ shorter tracks, and the characteristics of it make it a good racing track.”

The part-time scuba diver made seven starts last season over the course of the 22-race schedule. Of those races, Black tied his best finish of 18th at the Chicagoland and Texas Motor Speedway. With only seven starts last season, it is all about experience for the 24-year old.

“I think having more experience will help me, especially now that I’ve raced at places like Dover, New Hampshire and Martinsville,” continued Black. “Those tracks are all similar to Gateway in that it’s close contact, extreme racing. Every lap has us racing as hard as we can, which produces some of the most intense and thrilling racing for fans to expirence.”

Black has raced in seven races so far in 2015, earning a top five finish in the season opener at the Daytona International Speedway. His second-best run came at Dover earlier in the year where he brought home an 11th-place finish. Black will try to capture his seventh top-25 finish at Gateway on Saturday.
