Tyler Malsam NCWTS Preview: Michigan International Speedway

Returning with a Mission…After a lengthy break from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Tayler Malsam returns to the No. 32 Outerwall Chevrolet for an afternoon of racing at Michigan International Speedway. Malsam will make his second-career NCWTS start at Michigan after nearly scoring a top-five finish in his track debut in 2009, ultimately finishing sixth. With the wheel back in his hands, Malsam and his Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) team are on a mission for redemption this weekend.

This Week’s Silverado…

Crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. and the No. 32 TSM team will unload a familiar chassis this weekend in Michigan. Having only seen the track once this year at Charlotte Motor Speedway, TSM-605 made its debut last season at the fall race at Texas Motor Speedway, where it claimed the pole, followed by a third-place finish at the NCWTS finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Let’s Go…This week at Michigan, the No. 32 will sport the colors of Outerwall for the seventh of 12 races this year. As the company that brought consumers Redbox® entertainment, Coinstar® money services, and ecoATM® electronics recycling kiosks, Outerwall is leading the next generation of automated retail. With more than 20 years of experience, the company mission is to create a better everyday by delivering breakthrough kiosk experiences that delight consumers and generate revenue for retailers.

Previous Race Recap…The No. 32 truck was last on track at Pocono Raceway as TSM driver Kyle Larson tried to tame the Tricky Triangle. Prior to the start of the Pocono Mountains 150, Larson topped the speed charts and swept the weekend’s qualifying sessions, claiming his first-career NCWTS and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole awards. Continuing to be impeccably fast, Larson led 21 of 60 laps before an engine issue at the halfway mark took the No. 32 Cartwheel by Target Chevrolet out of contention, resulting in an 18th-place finish.

Tayler Malsam on racing at Michigan International Speedway:

“I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of the No. 32 truck this weekend. I’ve had some luck in Sprint Cars while I’ve been away from the truck, so I hope I can carry some of that with me this weekend. I like racing at Michigan; the track is wide and you can really race with people. My Turner Scott Motorsports team and I are more determined than ever to turn this season around. I know what we’re capable of; I’m ready to get back out there.”
